Halloween

From pumpkin carving to treat making and party going this year's Halloween was quite a packed week! I've decided to take the edited route for all our sake on this one so here are some highlights.

This year's pumpkin carving was a family affair! My cousins' wife came over with her three children and we all got our hand dirty carving some pumpkins! I have to be honest, my pumpkin carving skills leave a lot to be desired. I have no fancy design techniques or tools (we got a pumpkin carving kit at the dollar tree - side note: Love that place!). For me it's all about having a good time and watching my daughter laugh and smile and seeing the look of accomplishment on her face when we're all done.

So we may not have the most experience at this but we sure did have a good time not knowing what we were doing...

Everyone got messy and had a good time so: Success! (Ours is the one on the left! Not to shabby if I say so myself)

Next on the agenda was trying to figure out what Jes was going to bring in as her treat for her class' Halloween party.  Last year she was sick the week of Halloween so she wasn't able to participate in any activities so this year I wanted to try something she could help me make. Of course this led to an afternoon on Pinterest .... okay it was probably more than just one afternoon but I'll leave talk of my Pinterest addiction for another time. I found this cute recipe for Mummified Oreos and thought this would be something me and Jes could make together and put our own little twist on. After a little hard (messy) work....

We had our own version, Pumpkin Oreo Pops!

Next time I think we're going to try sticking with the original since I'm pretty sure sticking M&M eyes on is a whole lot easier than drawing all those faces!

But they were a hit with the kids in the class so it was all worth it.  Many messes were made and much fun was had, I hope you all can say the same for your Halloween!
